Customized Treatment for Sports Rehabilitation in Cedar Park

Every athlete has unique movement patterns, strengths, and vulnerabilities. That’s why we build individualized recovery programs tailored to your sport, position, and injury history. Our treatment approach includes:

  • Manual Therapy – Joint mobilization, soft tissue release, and myofascial techniques
  • Therapeutic Exercise – Strength-building, neuromuscular retraining, and movement correction
  • Recovery Modalities – Ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and compression therapy for pain and inflammation control
  • Functional Testing – Identifies weaknesses, guides performance enhancement, and ensures full recovery

Our approach restores function first, then layers in sport-specific training to get you back to peak performance—stronger than before.

What to Expect During Sports Rehabilitation

While every athlete’s journey is unique, most rehab programs follow these five key phases:

1. Pain and Inflammation Management

Rehabilitation begins with hands-on techniques and recovery modalities designed to reduce pain and swelling. Early movement strategies help prevent stiffness, improve circulation, and set the foundation for a smooth recovery.

2. Restoring Mobility and Flexibility

Myofascial release and targeted stretching techniques work to restore joint and muscle function. The focus is on regaining pain-free movement patterns to ensure a full return to activity.

3. Strength and Stability Training

Progressive resistance exercises help rebuild muscle strength and endurance, while core and joint stability drills enhance movement control. These exercises are key to preventing future injuries.

4. Sport-Specific Drills

Game-like movements and functional training refine technique, coordination, and performance. This phase prepares athletes for a confident return to competition.

5. Long-Term Injury Prevention

Proper movement mechanics are reinforced to reduce the risk of future injuries. Athletes receive education on self-care strategies and ongoing training techniques to sustain results and stay at peak performance.

Why Choose Sports Rehabilitation Over General Physical Therapy?

While traditional physical therapy focuses on basic recovery, sports rehabilitation is designed to fully restore athletic performance and minimize reinjury risk.

What sets our approach apart:

  • Sport-Specific Training – Exercises tailored to the demands of your sport
  • Advanced Performance Analysis – Identifies movement inefficiencies that increase injury risk
  • Specialized Injury Prevention – Long-term strategies to improve durability and resilience

Mark Brown

As a life-long athlete and trainer/fitness instructor for over 30 years I had developed a long-term shoulder injury that had become less functional with each year. Of course, during my time as a fitness pro I had been exposed to and tried numerous methods of shoulder rehab on my own with little improvement to show for it. Luckily, around the time I had begun to settle for an old age limitation I met and began working with Sam Gallardo at On The Run PT. With regular visits and individualized care, I regained range of motion that I had not had in 2 decades and the nagging shoulder pain that came with driving, putting on a shirt, and exercising subsided completely. Unlike some pt scenarios, I know that when I have an appointment with Sam I will be working one-on-one with him for the entire session in a studio that has everything needed to improve athletic performance. Sam provides just the right amount of homework” that allows for steady improvement without being too much to fit into a busy day. At each session, he takes consistent measurements and assessments to make sure we are going in the right direction! Along with being a wealth of professional knowledge, Sam is always upbeat and caring with patients. I look forward to each appointment, knowing I will leave feeling better every time!

We feel so fortunate to have found Sam!! He is an exceptional person…and a gifted physical therapist providing very individually tailored therapy and training services. My daughter, a high school cross-country runner, developed stress injuries to both tibias. After graduating from a fantastic pediatric orthopedic physical therapy practice, I was looking for a more specialized therapist to meet her needs as a runner recovering from injury, and hopefully take her performance to the next level while preventing future injury. It’s a fine balance to be engaging/fun yet professional with kids…but Sam was so warm and encouraging from the get-go, listening to not only my daughter’s concerns but my feedback and questions as a parent. I am also a physical therapist in a different specialty, so I came to each session with my own set of questions! We never felt rushed, in fact he often spent more time with us than expected. She looked forward to each session. The running analysis equipment that he uses is a huge bonus and provided data that gave feedback each session to track her progress. We have learned so much from Sam, and he has actually made the recovery process fun for my daughter. We were thrilled with her performance at a pre-season race today and we look forward to an injury-free season. If we have any problems, we know where to go! Thank you, Sam!
