Move Freely Again with IASTM Therapy in Cedar Park

At On The Run Physical Therapy, we believe that mobility is the key to a healthy, active life. Our experienced therapists use evidence-based IASTM techniques to target chronic pain from scar tissue and overuse injuries, relieve stiffness that restricts movement, and ease discomfort in joints and connective tissue caused by limited mobility.

IASTM goes beyond symptom relief—it helps you regain the freedom to move, perform daily activities with ease, and return to the lifestyle you love.

How IASTM Works

IASTM begins with a comprehensive assessment to pinpoint areas of dysfunction, such as:

  • Painful stiffness or tension in muscles and joints.
  • Knotted or thickened scar tissue bands that restrict movement.
  • Reduced flexibility or range of motion.

Your Customized Treatment Plan

Based on your assessment, we design a plan tailored to your specific needs. This may include:

  • Targeted IASTM techniques using precise tools to break down adhesions.
  • Stretching and corrective exercises to restore movement patterns.
  • Joint mobilization to improve flexibility and reduce discomfort.
  • Nutritional advice to support tissue healing and recovery.

We track your progress throughout therapy, focusing on reducing pain, improving biomechanics, and preventing future issues.

Conditions IASTM Can Address

IASTM is highly effective for:

  • Tendonitis (Achilles, patellar, or elbow).
  • Post-surgical scar tissue.
  • Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis.
  • Plantar fasciitis.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries.
  • IT band tightness, hamstring pain, and limited hip mobility.
  • Trigger points, muscle knots, and chronic stiffness.

If you’re struggling with pain, stiffness, or reduced flexibility caused by injuries, overuse, or surgery, IASTM can help you regain control of your movement.

What to Expect from IASTM Therapy in Cedar Park

How is IASTM different from other manual therapies?
IASTM uses specialized tools to target deeper adhesions and improve circulation, delivering more precise and effective results than traditional hands-on techniques.

Who should avoid IASTM?
IASTM may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions. Those with blood clotting disorders, active infections, or severe osteoporosis should avoid this treatment due to potential risks. Our therapists will assess your health during an initial consultation to ensure IASTM is safe and effective for you.

How soon will I see results?
Many patients notice improvements after the first session, with greater progress over several treatments—especially for chronic conditions.

What does IASTM feel like?
You may feel mild discomfort as adhesions are addressed, but most patients experience noticeable relief and improved mobility soon after. Temporary soreness is normal and subsides as tissues heal.

Mark Brown

As a life-long athlete and trainer/fitness instructor for over 30 years I had developed a long-term shoulder injury that had become less functional with each year. Of course, during my time as a fitness pro I had been exposed to and tried numerous methods of shoulder rehab on my own with little improvement to show for it. Luckily, around the time I had begun to settle for an old age limitation I met and began working with Sam Gallardo at On The Run PT. With regular visits and individualized care, I regained range of motion that I had not had in 2 decades and the nagging shoulder pain that came with driving, putting on a shirt, and exercising subsided completely. Unlike some pt scenarios, I know that when I have an appointment with Sam I will be working one-on-one with him for the entire session in a studio that has everything needed to improve athletic performance. Sam provides just the right amount of homework” that allows for steady improvement without being too much to fit into a busy day. At each session, he takes consistent measurements and assessments to make sure we are going in the right direction! Along with being a wealth of professional knowledge, Sam is always upbeat and caring with patients. I look forward to each appointment, knowing I will leave feeling better every time!

We feel so fortunate to have found Sam!! He is an exceptional person…and a gifted physical therapist providing very individually tailored therapy and training services. My daughter, a high school cross-country runner, developed stress injuries to both tibias. After graduating from a fantastic pediatric orthopedic physical therapy practice, I was looking for a more specialized therapist to meet her needs as a runner recovering from injury, and hopefully take her performance to the next level while preventing future injury. It’s a fine balance to be engaging/fun yet professional with kids…but Sam was so warm and encouraging from the get-go, listening to not only my daughter’s concerns but my feedback and questions as a parent. I am also a physical therapist in a different specialty, so I came to each session with my own set of questions! We never felt rushed, in fact he often spent more time with us than expected. She looked forward to each session. The running analysis equipment that he uses is a huge bonus and provided data that gave feedback each session to track her progress. We have learned so much from Sam, and he has actually made the recovery process fun for my daughter. We were thrilled with her performance at a pre-season race today and we look forward to an injury-free season. If we have any problems, we know where to go! Thank you, Sam!
